Credit unions across New York are improving their communities and empowering people of all ages to become financially independent. And every step of the way, the New York Credit Union Foundation is supporting them. By providing grants and other financial aid, the Foundation helps credit unions: teach critical financial skills to adults, youth and children; enhance member service with new technologies and initiatives; provide staff and volunteers with training opportunities; and distribute relief funds to those impacted by natural disasters. It’s through these initiatives—and the support of others—that the Foundation is able to carry out its mission: Fostering the financial independence of New Yorkers through credit unions.
Northwest Credit Union Foundation (NWCUF) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to identifying and nurturing partnerships that bring together Northwest credit unions, community organizations and nonprofits to improve and grow the regional economy. Our mission is to cultivate opportunities and develop leaders that improve the well-being of our communities we serve. We provide credit unions and community partners with support that promotes asset-building, economic empowerment and cooperative development and believe these focus areas contribute to long term sustainability for the Northwest and for credit unions making investments in their members and communities.
The National Credit Union Foundation assists credit unions with programs and resources to improve people's financial lives every step of the way along life's journey. Through Foundation grants and programs, credit unions provide widespread financial education, create greater access to affordable financial services, and empower more consumers to save, build assets, and own homes.
This video features two very personal stories from credit union members who relied on their credit union to help them with the education, support and financial services they needed. It also notes some of the ways credit unions reach beyond the branch walls to positively impact their communities.
